egoism

alone

egoist n.
One devoted to one’s own interests and advancement;

.

.

I know people I think are egoists. When it boils down to it, maybe I don’t want to like them. Why?

Because me liking them doesn’t seem to be in their self-interest perhaps? Or if they want me to like them, is that to serve some need of theirs? Maybe I’ll fix their computer when it breaks. Or be their backup date in case their first choice bails. Great. Is this a happy foundation for a relationship? What if I don’t have some apparent benefit from them? Do we need perfectly equal relationships then at all times? Is the moment where it is too one-sided, the breaking point of the relationship? Just get a divorce if the wife is not helping my life this week? I don’t think I have any equal relationships but I don’t really want to measure since that would be too egoist for me.

I do like a lot of these people anyway, at least the ones i still talk to. I think it is because enough of my real friends are altruistic and genuinely want me to prosper so I can afford to wade into selfish waters. I don’t like these waters, it makes me self conscious when love is conditional. Maybe I can change their colors, love when it doesn’t help me. But if my relationship teeter-totter should tip to more egoists, God help me (literally.)

The label egoist sounds offensive; same with egotistical, which is similar, but not really identical. I guess egotistical means having high confidence

I agree, it is offensive, egoism is offensive. To you and to me.
Get out of your selfish bubble and love a little.

Altruism (otherism) for the win! It is basically what Jesus boiled his teachings down into. Love God and love others. Without this concept, I’d be so lost, so sad, so hopeless. But even more so, other people (how altruistic of me) I know would still be in the pits of despair without it. How do you pick yourself up out of a hole? A wise lesson in the horror movie Planet Terror is to just reach up, but this only works if someone else is reaching down. I think merely loving others can be disastrous because humans fail, God doesn’t. You can reach up, and your friend might be in a hole too! So then what! God is always reaching down so its perfect. I’m sure there are other reasons that godless altruism fails, but thats another (longer) entry.

Give to bless, not to expect.
Take to enjoy, not to measure. – me, circa now

Except in economics (don’t take my money, communist pigs!) haha, kidding! ..! ? ?

lets go

Hey Ho Lets Go
Shoot em’ in the back now
What they want, I don’t know
They’re all reved up and ready to go
Hey Ho, Lets Go
Hey Ho, Lets Go
Hey Ho, Lets Go
Hey Ho, Lets Go

why do we want to go
why the word ho
are we going ho? onward ho!
where words flow and rhyme
where rhythms are in sync
where things simply make sense

Who sets the pace,
who makes the rules
who defines the truth?

Walk down the hall
behind a similar man
step for step

he has somewhere to go
he is walking too slow
maybe it is the place to go
i just want to know
hey ho lets go

I have found where he is going.
There is nothing there.
But he keeps moving
to walk is better than not
All the while knowing
That his ho is just nonsense.
But ever hoping
To find something worth the walk

Where does your ho go.
If you asked the Ramones,
they’re forming a straight line,
but the kids are losing their minds.

Maybe we should look around and decide where to go first?
Going without knowing i think just gets us lost.

Questions, answers to life's problems

0

I have found the questions, answers to my problems and solutions.

Thanks for yahoo! I now know where i can get a lifesize custom cardboard cutout of a picture of me.

I already have one request from one of my dear e-friends for a hug version of myself. I think I want like three for myself doing different thumbs up / high five / applause poses in my room. Or I could work with this side point thing.

daft punk dresses up as robots all the time.
daftpunk

Here are the lyrics to robot rock which is a new song of theirs. I am totally picking this song next time I go to kareoke

And their brand spankin new Alive 2007 live cd is pretty good. I think it is a lot better and more interesting than the normal cds that you might get tired of. They mix and add a lot more things together than a typical cd. I’d give it a listen if you have any house / electronic bone in you. It’s almost like you’re cool enough to be at a club.

They have undeniable skills in writing, cutting, pasting, saving, loading, checking, quick – rewriting, plugging, playing, burning, ripping, drag and dropping, zip – unzipping, locking, filling, calling, finding, viewing, coding, jam – unlocking, surfing, scrolling, posing, clicking, crossing, cracking, twitch – updating, naming, reading, tuning, printing, scanning, sending, fax – renaming, touching, bringing, paying, watching, turning, leaving, stop – formating.

Oh, and the most nerdy video i’ve ever seen… each person is a note? or something its ridonk. The song is a lot better remixed on the alive cd, but this is a good for a watch. Giants = bass, girls = high, skeleton = futurebleep, alien = vocals, mummies = drums/clapping? It breaks down later.

November music. epic

November!

Muse Absolution cd is just flat out epic. I’ve probably mentioned this before but its not just good, it is epic. Just like the movie gladiator or something. Its just like powerful piece of art that defines something.

  • I love the new Alicia Keys cd too, Superwoman is my fav. Ms Keys is maybe on my top 10 artists these days. Big fan. This might be an A. I like a bunch of other songs too and its just well done.
  • Leona Lewis bleeding love single is catchy, and soulful. It is also well written and reminds me of Alicia Keys a bit. I will be on the look out for her album. She’s a brit idol winner and will be on the rise soon.
  • Britney‘s new album is a bit of a club thumper that will please the beat fans. Very well produced I think but thats what is to be expected. It reminds me of the future direction that JT took with Futuresex/lovesounds. Britney is somewhat repugnant but whatever, I liked the Paris cd so i’m willing to listen to this one. So far Piece of Me is different enough for me to like at this point. It might be annoying later though. I don’t expect it to be huge at this point, regardless of her new place on the “not hot” list.

  • Also Mute Math deserves a listen, nothing new but I haven’t mentioned them before. Its a bit softer rock but still creative and enjoyable. Perhaps a new favorite. I dont know how to describe it. They don’t have any songs that stand out, they are an album experience to be enjoyed or not.

  • Chamillionaire is a good rapper and I’m glad he isn’t as talentless as 50 Cent, so Ultimate Victory is gettign some play time.
  • But the king of rap is still the jigga man, Jay-Z, and I really enjoy his complete album experience of american gangster.
  • I decided to check out Timbaland‘s Shock Value , and it was as expected. High production value but low musical value. Apologize is the best track but you can hear that a million times on the radio and skip this disc.

cd-ultimatevictorycd-americangangstercd-shockvalue

  • Casting Crowns new cd is quite good. Nothing grabs me, I can see it fading to the never-played shelf. It sorta fits into their other works too. It might win a grammy, it has a lot of quality to it.
  • tobyMac’s portable sounds cd is good too, its not very new and its very catchy to the point of fluff but whatever, I still play it from time to time.

My former Siamese twin has started blogging again. We were joined by the nerd in case you were wondering. I’m sure we’ll have post separation anxiety and have endless visits to the psychiatrist when we marry non-nerd wives one day. And on that day, maybe we’ll blog about it.

Rapid fire time

poster-kisskissKiss Kiss Bang Bang – B
starring Downey Jr, Kilmer

Its a lot like Lucky Number Slevin to me. There is a lot of sexual talk and violence, it is darkly humorous. I also feel it is well written and acted. The plot was neat and the different character struggles seemed appropriate. They also had amusing attitudes and just likable characters. I think most people would like it. Unless you know you dont like it due to the content, you should check it out.

poster-deathproofDeath Proof – B-
starring Douglas, Ms Dawson

This is half of the Grindhouse duo of horror movies. Written by Tarantino, it is classic conversational based stuff. I liked the jibberjabber as much as I sorta expected. If it was condensed I think it would be pretty cool since the idea behind the horror movie part was well thought up. But it goes on for a while and I think a lot of people might not enjoy the conversation part. Great ending, a clean but basic plot, lots of chat. You might like it, you might not. Let’s talk about it.

poster-mysassyMy Sassy Girl – B++
starring Korean actor and actress

A famous Korean movie about an angry girl that a guy ends up with, and eventually they have a romance. I enjoyed the totally different look at this genre and some of the plot arcs were interesting. It does really frustrate me if anyone thinks it is ok to be treated that way. “You die now” is not an appropriate way to express yourself. Submission shouldn’t be romance, but hey its just a movie. Just don’t pick up any pointers or you will be miserable or make someone else miserable. But! the characters do a very good job of showing why they need each other. Very entertaining and touching. I’d watch it again.

poster-bobbyBobby – B-
starring a zillion of people

There are sooo many celebrities. Shia Laboeuf is my favorite character. He has a wide range of emotions for a young man. Sharon Stone as an interesting neglected wife has a great moment. A Czech reporter is adorable. The whole dramatic part about Bobby I think is pretty well done. The highs and lows, and the symbolism of what Robert Kennedy represented I think was well conveyed in this movie. I love the political speech at the end. I think that speech was pretty much the foundation of the movie. I wish I was that good with words. But as for policy, its very one-sided and simple. So take that as you may. Watch if you wish. Its not exactly must-see.

Blades of Glory – C
starring Ferrell and Heder

My favorite comedies are Will Ferrell ones. But this one is just average for the most part. It seemed to get funnier at the end. Arnett and Pohler as Marilyn and JFK, haha, Arnett is the best part of this movie. I dont think Heder is funny at all, Ferrell had the odd moment, Ice doesn’t belong in the heart, it belongs out there, on the ice rink. Oh, there is a romance in here too, but its even worse than Adam Sandler movie romances. Thumbs down.

poster-eternalEternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind- A-
starring Carrey and Winslet

Quirky romance that messes with your mind a little. I loved it. You have to pay attention to the sorta messed up plot and memories and that. I love all the scenes and transitions! Its set in the 80s with tape cassettes and things of that nature. The characters are all messed up and have strong personalities, but they seem real and just watching interactions is great. Carrey and Winslet do a phenomenal job of just being their own weird. It wasn’t very funny comical, but there were smile moments from just things people said. The subplots were good too. Dysfunction meets charm. Check it out.

Children of Men – B-
starring Owen, Caine

This is a typical futuristic apocalyptic movie, but no, not a sci-fi movie at all. I thought some of the scenes were good. The plot was very plain but the characters were enjoyable. I wouldn’t say it is a must see by any stretch. It’s sorta like something I’d see on television. Its very dark and gloomy for the most part. I suppose it conveys that despair very well. It reminds me of 28 days later in the lack of colors and the hopelessness. Although I have fonder memories of 28days since it seemed to have more special scenes and a higher pace which kept my interest. Children of Men was good, but just didn’t seem special.

you're, you're my number 2..n

.

You’re – you’re my number one
I’d do anything for you
Catch the rain from the sky, even hold back the tide for you

I’m trying to think how many times have I been someone’s #1. That seems to be the goal for many people. Is it that important? I can definitely see who someone’s #1 is for a boy/girl cause its probably the one they talk about nonstop. Therefore its not me. So second(or third..) place is the first loser? No definitely not.

But I realize I’m doing this intentionally. I’m leaving town and have known this for a while so it just seems appropriate for my circumstances. My “social strategy” (that sounds so bad) is to not necessarily be the dependant, but still dependable. To be trusted, but not required. It’s like .. an open … friendship. Hah.

This is much more obvious when you look at my dating history, or lack thereof. I enjoy female company, I have my “outings”. But I’m not the primary dater, its great, a lot less drama and more breathing

Same goes with friendships.. just as long as you get included, don’t rank, don’t stress.

You may gag, this is S Club 7. Why is it on my blog you are asking? I dont know. Maybe cause there aint no post like an S CLUB POST! They do a bit of the skinamarinkydinkydink at 0:50. and also a bye bye bye ripoff. Oh, this brings back the who is hotter arguments from junior high. Its a close call i think. Definitely a case of terriblehair vs cute vs hot vs nothot (in that order.)
