Ode to Richard Larsen
0Thanks for everything Grandpa.
I only dream of leaving such an impact on the next generation.
Your resilience and strength in truth I hope to develop myself and pass on likewise.
See you again someday, hopefully not so soon.
Second Identity
1I wonder about having a second identity. You know something on a passport so you can get into a country if someone is chasing you. Or so you can work and rob the place without them finding you. Except for I don’t really want to commit crimes, nor do I have any reason to run… perhaps there is a good reason to have an alternate identity, like to fight night crime and have a day job.
If I had to pick this name, it would be Reuben Walter Wilkerson so I could be reub-a-dub-dub.
In fact I bet we all have different identities. Ole Shakespeare’s famous quote is,
God has given you one face, and yet make yourself another.
I’m not going to write some big long post like I usually do, filled with judgment, self-analysis, generic guidance and cultural criticisms. Instead I’m just going to say
Who are you? .. Who are you really?
Middle man!
0If you rate a shows interest by its requirement of interest. Then Middleman I think would be perhaps the most interesting show ever. If you try to have a second conversation you will be hitting rewind over and over again. There are so many quick dry jokes and weird references. One guy pretty much speaks in song lyrics.
Anyway, it isn’t quite stellar or huge laugh out loud like the office, but its interesting and a good watch. I especially like the cool alien-killers plotline. Its sort of like men-in-black except more casual?
Plus it just started, and comedies don’t always start with a bang.
Middle man!

what were they thinking
0I like the thought of some things, even if its kinda bizarre.
I saw a sign today on the street, it was a yellow diamond, one that might say “hidden driveway” or “sudden turn” … this one said “blind person”. But there was no blind person there? How do you have a sign for something that is mobile, the blind person could be everywhere? I don’t get it.
Then i found this on weburbanist (one of my favs)
This abandoned railroad in Abkhazia, Northern Siberia was built on Stalin’s orders in the middle of nowhere. Its original purpose is unclear. It was abandoned long before the collapse of the USSR, and has never been connected to any other Russian Federal Railway system. Rusting and in ruins, it’s now accessible only by helicopter.
Oh, don’t be an incorrigible eskimo pie with a caramel ribbon. (Newest episode of psych)
let that be enough
0True artists can express things not only for themselves, but for others too.
Kina Grannis sang a lovely cover just yesterday, but here’s the original by Switchfoot
the tough judge
0
If I were to do something awesome that was judged, like spinning in a chair, and I happened to be pretty good on the whole, most people appreciated my talents in spinning, but there were some low scores by a few critics; what is it that makes me unable to fully appreciate it until I deal with the negative result first.
I dont even think its that they were misguided or unqualified judges. Their accuracy may be even higher because they are unswayed by the crowd and less succumb to the pressures of being nice. I find always nice judges to be meaningless and inconsequential.
What happens if they just are harsh critics, or prefer another style. I suppose I can deal with that, but it doesn’t make me want to target them as an audience? Make it work for people who like you i guess? Surround yourself with yes-men? Or do you stand in the face of critics and work it out for some resolution or improvement?
I’m all for improvement, but bad without the good can be demoralizing and deflating. I don’t think this is helping. Especially when I feel the reason for a low score is arbitrary or poorly substantiated.
I support the compliment sandwich as lame and contrived as it may seem…. ok no i dont it is really lame and forced, but i like the idea.
Art and Charm – kina grannis
1The more I’m off on my own, exploring and expressing, the more I appreciate real art, and the process to get there.
Because of this, the processed well produced timbaland hot joint is losing appeal and the underground everyday people are more appealing. I have done the youtube thing looking at the top played musicians, Marie Digby being one of my favorites, not only for her cover of Umbrella, and Incubus’ Love Hurts, but her absolutely adorable stupid for you video. Then when her cd came out (which I bought) I was like supporting a friend? And when I heard her in the supermarket I was so happy for her! I would never be happy for anyone else to make it big? I dont really know how that works, since I don’t know any pop stars.
Anyway, I also listen to miss Kina Grannis, who does the youtube cover / original blend and is soon to blow up huge too I’m sure. She has an extreme amount of charm, so much that even watching her open mail is a happy experience? I dont know how she does it, it is such levels of charm only seen by natalie portman in garden state, OC’s Rachel Bilson, youtube’s comedy queen happyslip, and little star wars girl, maybe its a mouth thing. I haven’t figured it out yet.
Irregardless, her music is really good too! She even says Happy Sunday!
Happy Sunday to you too Kina.

I’m going to request this one on the radio when she makes it big… but I don’t listen to the radio, ok whatev. Just watch
Dark Knight
1
Batman -The Dark Knight – A
starring Bale Ledger Eckhart Gyllenhall
It is not only well acted (Ledger is unreal), but maybe the best written movie I’ve ever seen. Social commentary, manipulation, games, trickery, self-references, clever lines… it’s top notch.
For more, read the eric.blog I too would have preferred Holmes or someone different (Kreuk played the exact same character in smallville), Maggie is the artsy damsel, not the classy damsel.
dr horrible
0Ya, I’m not the first on this bandwagon, but I more so just love this quote from Act 2
Her > Sometimes people are layered
Her > there’s something totally different underneath whats on the surface
DrHorrible > And sometimes there is a third even deeper layer and that one is the the same as the first
..
DrHorrible > like with pie.
It is all kinds of awesome! Except for the female lead, who i guess sings well, but charms poorly. Maybe this fits because he isn’t exactly functional enough to pine after a mary jane or lana lane.
DrHorrible > Peace… but not literally
