beware the ides, and reviews
I survived the ides of march. Did you?
I have been living with a cat and I have related this to people. Some just walk around, want attention, then get out of the way when work needs to be done. They make noise and might cuddle or sit on your lap but they don’t really contribute or have any depth. Of course they are just animals but if i get a girlfriend who was like that, I will light my socks on fire, then i should wake up, give her a can of food and kick her out the door. (No i don’t have anyone like this right now, I am just hypothesizing future problems because my life is so vacant of real problems)
I also minireview some things!

Gone Baby Gone B++
Affleck, Affleck, Monaghan (i like her), Ed Harris
Gone Baby Gone was yet another really good yet notsocheery deep movie. I seem to be on a roll (Magnolia, Babel) It is written by affleck, directed by affleck, and starring affleck… but not the same one. Its about a private detective couple who look for an abducted child, except there’s a lot more. Good watch! I dont want to spoil it. Its a bit gritty and foul, reminds me a little of the departed.

I was told to go see goodluckchuck which i imagine is the opposite in being really bad yet cheery movie? Dane cook is funny but i dont like him. Sorta like Sandler I think he’s a mixed bag. He’s more clever than Sandler though.
Into the blue again, A-
Album Leaf,
vacant wispy … indie rock. why is everything indie rock! Its soothing and sets a scene without being boring.
Worth a long listen.
If you hear only one song you might not realize the mood setting ability of Album Leaf
Stars is this indie band that i recently discovered except for the fact that I have had a song of theirs on a cd for years. Also same thing with Bell X1 and Album Leaf, I thought I was so cool in finding this unheard music but no, they are also on that mix cd… brought to you by… The OC! Hah. Which also helped me discover Spoon, Deathcab, Modest Mouse, Imogen Heap, Sufjan Stevens, LCD Soundsystem (ok i heard some before, but OC was the first cd i had with their songs)
Walkmen, Keane, Rooney and Eels, not so much of a fan, but they too have gotten much publicity for being on the OC soundtrack.
In Our Bedroom After The War,B,
Stars,
lots of prepositions “In” here. This is kinda poppy but lacks the thump dancing beats for the radio. There is a soft piano in many songs. Two voices is a nice touch. I like duets and if you have nothing to burn you have to set yourself on fire!
I miss the OC, i have watched the odd other teen drama show but I think I liked the start of OC better than any of these ones. They were funny! Too bad near the end they kept making things way too wrapped up in a bow, life is messy, problems dont get solved and thats why the earlier ones were better. In another life I would be a TV writer who would have been eating bread and jam for months while being on strike and now is excited to work and bought myself a vintage toyota truck with 20″ spinner rims to drive around my shallow cat of a girlfriend.
